STATEMENT OF BELIEF

Machaira considers itself a non-denominational band. Although the four members of Machaira come from four different churches, our common basic belief in the Lordship of Jesus Christ transcends denominational walls.

These core beliefs make up the foundation upon which all our ministry endeavors are based.

Machaira Ministries believes;

  • We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all.
  • We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired, without error in the original manuscripts, and the infallible rule of faith and practice.
  • We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
  • We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal, visible return to earth.
  • We believe in the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who believe in Jesus Christ.
  • We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding Helper, Teacher, and Guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the Biblical gifts of the Spirit.
  • We believe that all men are sinners by nature and choice and therefore are under condemnation. We believe that God regenerates by the Holy Spirit, those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord. We believe that Jesus Christ baptizes the seeking believer with the Holy Spirit and power for service, often subsequent to regeneration.
  • We believe in the universal church, the living spiritual body of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members.
  • We believe that there are two ordinances committed to the Church by Jesus Christ:
    1. Baptism
    2. The Lord’s Supper
  • We believe in baptism by immersion and communion open to all believers.
  • We believe in what is termed the apostle’s creed as embodying fundamental facts of Christian faith.

Machaira believes (and most Christians would agree) that without faith in these core beliefs there would be serious doubts about one’s claim of being a Christian. The Bible defines what is necessary to claim the name of Christ.  Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord” will enter the Kingdom of Heaven: I will declare unto them, I never knew you, depart from me, you who practice lawlessness.” (Matthew 7:21-23)

Machaira believes that Christians are admonished in the Word to spread the go “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” spel (Matthew 28:19).  Machaira takes this very seriously and believes that this is why God has called us together as Ministers of the Gospel.

We are also admonished to defend the faith.  A Christian who encounters untruth or anti-Christian statements or practices has only two real choices: To declare the truth or to remain silent.  We cannot subscribe to untrue or anti-Christian statements or deeds without dishonoring Christ and grieving the Holy Spirit.  Since the word tells us to be a light unto the world, our preferable course of action is to state the truth. Not our personal idea of what the truth is, but what God’s truth is.  Machaira is about declaring the truth. If you desire to know more about the truth, come to a Machaira concert or give us a call.  We won’t remain silent!
